IntelliTech Systems Wins Three Recent Contracts

IntelliTech Systems was awarded a task order with the Air Force Security Assistance Center (AFSAC) to perform Certification and Accreditation work on three AFSAC systems. This task includes working with the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR) application that houses the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).

IntelliTech has proudly served AFSAC for over five years on various tasks and is currently working on the Parts and Repair Ordering System (PROS III) contract that supports Foreign Military Sales functions.

IntelliTech was also recently awarded a contract from the USEPA Office of Ground Water & Drinking Water for “Regulation Development & Implementation Support with an Emphasis on Economic Impacts”. The work will be performed in Cincinnati, Ohio, Washington, DC and at IntelliTech's corporate office in Fairborn, OH.

The contract is for ten years with a potential maximum value of $27,438,376.  The focus of the work will be on a variety of technical issues including: Identification of Potential Drinking Water Contaminants; Assessing Exposure to Drinking Water Contaminants; Evaluation of Drinking Water Treatment Technologies; and, the Estimation of Capital and Operations and Maintenance Cost of Drinking Water Treatment.  IntelliTech’s staff has specialized in supporting the EPA and private industry with technical assistance for safe drinking water standards and treatment since its inception in 1993.  IntelliTech received the EPA's Woman-Owned Business of the Year award in 2006.

The third program consists of developing a business intelligence (BI) solution for the Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP). This application will house data from on-going studies that are being performed at all 50 teacher preparation institutions in the state of Ohio. The TQP principal investigators will also have access to state-of-the-art analysis tools to perform research within the system. The focus of the TQP project is to better understand the pathways and influences related to the teachers and to their ultimate influence on students’ academic performance. The collected data will be analyzed within the system being developed, and reports detailing findings will be produced by the principal investigators of the research strands. The application is being developed using SAS, Futrix, and custom applications developed by the IntelliTech team.

Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc. Continues to Focus on Growth

In mid-2007, Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc (MLPC) purchased its third laser welding system and expanded company’s floor space by almost 1,500 square feet.  This additional floor space allowed the company to consolidate all three laser welding workstations into this single area as well as a quality inspection station.  The consolidation significantly improved throughput resulting in expansion of the company’s customer base.  The welding system brings the number of laser workstations at MLPC to seven: 2 each in laser marking and laser micromachining and 3 in laser welding.  In January 2008, the company will add a 600W fiber laser welding system to support a fuel cell fabrication program with the Edison Welding Institute.

A new CNC milling machining was also installed in the additional space to support MLPC’s commercial and research business elements.  The milling machine, which is primarily used for fixture fabrication, enables MLPC to respond more rapidly to customer needs and reduce deliver times – a key factor in today’s commercial environment.

MLPC continues to focus on the growth of laser-based manufacturing in the Dayton Region for both commercial and defense markets.  The company has been growing at a rate of 30-35% per year for the past 3 years and the addition of the increased floor space and manufacturing capability is the direct result of this growth.  In 2007, MLPC added 64 new customers increasing its active customer base to more than 150 in markets that include medical device, automotive, fuel cells, microelectronics, aerospace, and defense.  As part of its recent expansion, MLPC installed an on-site fitness center for its employees.

The Design Knowledge Company

One of our DADCA members, the Design Knowledge Company (TDKC) is a rapidly growing, small business located in Fairborn, Ohio. TDKC believes that the continuation of Dayton’s heritage of invention and technology development is critical to the viability of the economy and the security of our nation. As such, TDKC’s mission is to provide distinctively innovative solutions in the service of the country.  TDKC brings cost-effective, viable, leading-edge solutions to the warfighter.  TDKC was founded by Mr. Eric Loomis, Dr. Jim McCracken, and Mr. Dan Schiavone to develop and transition innovative technology and research.

Since 2003, TDKC has been delivering decision support systems and tools that turn their customer’s information into knowledge or actionable intelligence.  Their products range from mobile air traffic control solutions to web-based frameworks for satellite telemetry data mining and anomaly visualization. TDKC specializes in leading-edge research and technology development in three key areas: (1) Military Command and Control (C4ISR); (2) Knowledge Engineering; and (3) Warfighter Information Systems.

TDKC’s Satellite Threat Evaluation Environment for Defensive Counterspace (STEED) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program has enjoyed significant success. For example, STEED was selected as both an AFRL success story and as Air Force SBIR Impact Program during the past two years.  In addition, STEED was selected by the Air Force Core Process Level-3 program in 2006.  This program accelerated the technology development, testing, and certification and fast-tracked the delivery of key technology.  As part of the AFRL CP-3 program, STEED was recently installed as an operational product in the Air Force Joint Space Operations Center (JsPOC) at Vandenberg AFB. As a result of STEED SBIR program, TDKC was recently awarded a National SBIR National Tibbetts Award.

Named for Roland Tibbetts (the person acknowledged as the father of the SBIR program) these prestigious, national awards are made annually to those small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement.  TDKC was selected from over 4,000 companies that receive contracts under the SBIR program each year. The Tibbetts award recognizes those SBIR accomplishments where, in the judgment of those closely involved and often most immediately affected, the stimulus of SBIR funding has made an important and definable difference. In selection for Tibbetts Awards, the focus is primarily on: (1) economic impact of technological innovation; (2) business achievement and effective collaborations; (3) demonstrated state and regional impact and proven support.

TDKC was presented their 2007 Tibbetts award on October 19th at a local community event.  This event was attended by Congressman Mike Turner, Ohio Senator Steve Austria, Greene County Commissioners and other leaders, DADCA representatives, Dayton Chamber of Commerce leaders, Dayton Development Coalition members, Air Force personnel, local defense contractors, and others.
