Ohio Defense Connects
Ohio Defense Connects Overview
DaytonDefense, is championing an initiative to foster increased collaboration and development of the Ohio Defense sector. This initiative - “Ohio Defense Connects” – builds upon the successful DaytonDefense programs that have served the Dayton, Ohio defense sector since 1995. Core elements of these programs include: Advocacy, Education, Networking, and Collaboration.
OUR CURRENT FOCUS IS MANUFACTURING
DaytonDefense is playing a key regional role in the DoD program called “Connecting American Manufacturing”. DaytonDefense sponsored the "New Business Connections for Ohio Small and Medium Sized Manufacturers” conference on August 16, 2012, at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center near Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. At that conference we launched an innovative tool call VizSpace, where manufacturers can leverage technology to pull potential bidding opportunities specifically tailored to their capabilities and then submit responsive bids. Since that conference we have continued to sign up VizSpace users and work with member companies. Based on company capabilities loaded from your Workbook, DoD business opportunity “matches“ will arrive via email or you can search the VizSpace opportunity database at any time.
Additional Program Details:
DoD has unanswered solicitations resulting in unfulfilled manufacturing needs. In addition they are striving to decrease reliance on single sources by increasing manufacturing sources and competition under the Connecting American Manufacturing Program. DoD wants to attract new small and medium sized manufacturers to support these needs. DoD believes many companies that could build these items do not have the resources to identify, track and respond to the solicitations.
Ohio Defense Connects is a part of the Connecting American Manufacturing Program; a competitively awarded two-year pilot project. Contractors will load information such as a company profile, NAICS code, set asides, type of products, parts and services produced and provided, and even photos of items in an electronic “Workbook” that will serve to establish a presence on a free database called VizSpace.
